An ENEO Day on bilingualism, multiculturalism and living together, has been instituted for every 03rd of May. The first edition observed at the ENEO head-quarters in Douala also witnessed the installation of members of an internal commission to promote Bilingualism, Multiculturalism and living together within the institution.
The Electricity distribution company in Cameroon,(ENEO), now has an internal commission on Bilingualism, Multiculturalism and Living Together. The 15-member commission was installed on 03rd May 2018 under the auspices of the President of the NCPBM to:
Promote the practice of Bilingualism, Multiculturalism and Living Together within ENEO;
Monitor the practice of Bilingualism, Multiculturalism and Living Together within ENEO;
Prepare and summit reports on issues related to the protection and promotion of Bilingualism, Multiculturalism and Living Together to top management;
Liaise with the NCPBM on matters related to the promotion of bilingualism, Multiculturalism and Living Together;
Organize the ENEO Bilingualism, Multiculturalism and Living Together Day every 03rd of May.
Commissioning the members, the personal representative of the NCPBM’s President, Madam AMA TUTU MUNA, member of the NCPBM and head of the working group of Bilingualism, urged them to initiate an internal policy on Bilingualism that will consolidate Living Together in ENEO, through cultural dialogue and diversity. She called on the members to ensure that every personnel of ENEO enjoys a sense of belonging as a Cameroonian in a context of diversity and plurality.
Speaking earlier during the ceremony, the Government Delegate to the Douala City Council, Dr. Fritz NTONE NTONE, saluted the choice of the city of Douala to host the commissioning ceremony. He said the cosmopolitan nature of the city is a fertile ground for Bilingualism, Multiculturalism and Living Together to flourish.
The General Manager of ENEO, Mr. Joel NANA KONTCHOU, for his part, was proud that, his company which is a major employer in the country with 3795 workers and a customer base of over1.2million, intends to set the pace for others to follow. He added that ENEO wishes to pass from official Bilingualism to integral Bilingualism,to ensure that it becomes a way of life in the company.
The high profile ceremony was attended by top administrative officials of the Littoral region, who seized the opportunity to promise their commitment, to support the NCPBM, in the consolidation of effective Living Together, amongst Cameroonians.
