President Paul Biya matches words with action; appoints 15 members of the NCPBM for a five year renewable mandate.
Created by a Presidential Decree on the 23rd of January 2017, the NCPBM got into action after the appointment of its members by the President of the Republic on the 15th of March 2017. Under the stewardship of former Prime Minister and Senator H.E Peter MAFANY MUSONGE, the 15 pioneer members were chosen from different walks of life, to form a house with a rich cream of personalities needed to meet up with the delicate and sensitive mandate assigned to the Commission by the Head of State.
While installing them into office, the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Philemon YANG, representing the Head of State, reminded the members of the task awaiting them and acknowledged the fact that the Head of State has bestowed a lot of confidence in them to see to the realization of the mission of the Commission.
The president of the Commission, H.E Peter MAFANY MUSONGE, assured the full commitment of his team in ensuring the promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism so as to consolidate living together amongst Cameroonians, especially at this time when the nation is plagued with civil unrest in the North West and South West regions.
It should be recalled that the NCPBM was created on the heels of protests from some inhabitants of the two English speaking regions against what they claim are marginalization of their linguistic and socio-cultural identity.
