The Last Journey of a fallen Hero

It started as a rumour in the early hours of the 16th of January, 2025, that Mr Abouem à Tchoyi had died the night before. The staff of the NCPBM and Cameroonians in general could not believe. But as the hours went by, the news was confirmed.

Newspapers and other media outlets were unanimous to the fact that Cameroon had lost a great statesman; one full of integrity, humility, patriotism and loyalty.

This was recognised by the Head of State who declared an official burial for Mr Abouem à Tchoyi. He was to be represented at this official burial by the President of the NCPBM, Peter Mafany Musonge.

That final journey started on the 7th of February with the copse removal at the Yaounde General Hospital Mortuary, followed by a funeral service at the Marie Gocker Parish in the presence of the representative of the Head of State and a host of other personalities and mourners.

The burial took place at his native Kiki, Mbam and Inoubou Division of the Centre Region on the 8th of February, 2025.

The burial was quite solemn, with the deceased raised to the Dignity of Grand Cordon of the Cameroon Order of Valour; an exercise carried out by the representative of the Head of State, Peter Mafany Musonge.

A message of condolence of the Head of State to the family, read by the SDO of Mbam and Inoubou, Gababa Bakary, spoke of Abouem à Tchoyi as a man of competences, perfectly bilingual, and had a high esteem for State and discreet throughout his rich administrative and political career.
