This commendation was made during a hectic reception marking celebrations of the 2019 International Women’s Day at the premises of the Commission.

Women of the National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism took an active part in the 34th International Women’s Day, which was celebrated under the theme “crusade against gender inequalities, committing to the new impetus”.

The earlier part of the day was dedicated to the march past at the 20th May Boulevard, presided over by first lady, Chantal BIYA.

Back at the NCPBM headquarters in the afternoon, a festive ceremony was chaired by the Vice-President of the Commission, OUMAROU DJIKA, in the presence of some members of the Commission: Mrs. AMA TUTU MUNA, Prof. Abbe BODO, Mr. ABOUEM à TCHOYI, Prof. EFOUA MBOZO’O and Mr. MBAFOR AFESI, as well as the Secretary General, Dr. CHI ASAFOR Cornelius.

In his short speech, Mr. OUMAROU DJIKA congratulated the Women for their performance of the day.

Speaking earlier, the representative of the Women, Dr. Faty MANDOU, recounted some of the actions that have illustrated the Man-Woman parity in the administrative and cultural sectors of the Commission. She cited the increase in the number of Women working in the Commission, from 15 in 2018 to 45 this year. She said more than half of this number is made up of senior Staff. She added that almost all Linguistic Zones are represented, including the minorities.

Appreciating the positive steps taken by the NCPBM Management, Dr. Faty MANDOU encouraged them to do more.

While a common meal was being shared, the women entertained their guests with a thrilling multicultural parade, which featured all the 4 cultural spheres of Cameroon.
